Beruflicher Werdegang

|
After studying dance and psychology in
Cologne and later with a DAAD grant in New York, B.T., together
with Angela Dauber founded "Tanzprojekt München" in 1975, an
independent company, which toured national and international
dance and theatre festivals in Europe, Asia and the U.S. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
At this time, she started to direct short
movies like "Bomarzo", "Die weiße Erkrankung"
and "Stadtfahrt", all of which have been shown on television
and in movie-houses. Her first feature-film "Wenn ich die
Antwort wüßte" ("If I only knew the answer") has
been shown on several festivals. |

|
|
Her first work for a statetheatre in Freiburg/Germany,
"Stella", had an extensive Asia-run with the support
of the Goethe-Institut. |

From 1989-1996 |
director of the dance/theatre
department at the Städt. Bühnen Münster. Here she created:

At the same time she started
to collaborate with american composer Philip Glass, directed
his operas "The Juniper Tree", "The Fall of the House
of Usher" as well as "Orphée" (All Europeen premieres).
For her dance/theatre work "Kinder der Nacht" (Cocteau),
Philip Glass wrote the original music for three grand pianos.

The opera "The Marriages
between Zones Three, Four and Five" a world premiere, Libretto
by Doris Lessing, music by Philip Glass was commissioned by
the Heidelberg Theatre. |

Since 1996/97 |
director of the Tanz/Theater
at the Staatstheater Darmstadt. Her works there:
"Teorema", music by Giorgo Batistelli, created after
the film by Paolo Pasolini
"Gegenwart ich brauche Gegenwart", music by Moritz Eggert,
inspired by Ingeborg Bachmann
"Looking for Lulu", music by Philip Glass and performed
by the Raschèr Saxophone Quartett.
"The Photographer", music/dance/theatre by Philip Glass
"Im Sandkasten" in a new version to music by Moritz Eggert

During the last saison, she
created "Stranger then fiction", a work on singer Maria
Malibran to a score by brazilian composer Jocy de Oliveira.
She also directed a new version of "The Fall of the House
of Usher" combining two composers of the same age as well
as dance/theatre and opera in one evening. |

next saison |
plans a M.Duras-Project (a
dance/theatre work with her company, actress Jeanne Moreau and
counter tenor Joquim Sabaté) and the europeen premiere of Philip
Glass´opera "The penal colony". |

As director/choreographer/teacher
B.T. has been guesting in Austria, France, Italy, Senegal, Brazil,
Japan and the U.S.. |

2001 |
At the Staatstheater Damstadt
B.T. initiated the "Serious Fun"-Festival with interdisciplinary
forms of theatre and since 1998 "Cutting Edge", a competition
for young directors, which focuses on new forms of theatre in
Europe. This competition will take place this year in collaboration
with Mousonturm, Frankfurt, supported by the ministry of science
and culture of Hessen. Participating groups are from Netherlands,
Portugal and Germany. Date: May 21 - 25th 2001. |
